If you mange to make the game completely CPU bound (basically all single threaded games like MMOs or modern games on older engines like for example Grim Dawn), you will see that for example 16:9 3840x2160 is going to perform quite a bit better than 21:9 3440x1440, by more than 10%, even despite higher pixel count, due to the narrower aspect ratio. And what is the differnce between I7 8700, I7 9700 and 2700X in games at that resolution?
