"We're thinking very strategically about our processes and procedures, trying to make sure we keep the kids as safe as possible," said Campbell. Each teacher will have an infrared no-touch thermometer and will check each student both at the start of the day and just before lunchtime. Campbell asked everyone to show off their "airplane arms," which meant holding arms out to provide proper distancing between those in the crowd. Starting July 13, Tallahassee Classical School teachers will begin training for the year, with special emphasis on health and safety. "We actually delayed a year already with our charter because of temporary facility and space reasoning, and how long it took us to get through the appeals process and the contract process with Leon County schools," said Adrienne Campbell, the principal at Tallahassee Classical School. The difference, along with their larger than average classroom size, is expected to make plenty of room for social distancing. "We go back to some of the educational roots and make sure that our kids have a really strong foundation so that way as they get older they can start exploring their education through socratic seminars dig deeper into the subject area and really become a well-rounded individual," said Adrienne Campbell, Principle and co-founder of Tallahassee Classical School. The open enrollment period lasts through January 16. The school will focus on a "classical liberal arts" curriculum, according to its website, including the teaching of Latin.
