I. I have a ton of free time yet at 31 years old just can't do 80hr epics : After 60 or so beautiful hours in Witcher 3 I stopped just as I arrived to the final land.

Until this thread, I didn't even know that Octopath existed.


I was really impressed with the demo of Octopath.

Haven't played dragon quest 11 but you're probably better off betting on that story wise. 2 lengthy RPGs so relatively close to each other is a bit of a concern though, I'm worried if I do Octopath when it comes out I might be too burnt out for DQ.



What would you say is the better one to invest my time into? It's a good, solid modern Dragon Quest game, with some of the charm of DQ8, but it drags on a little longer than it should (probably a more excusable flaw in today's situation...). Music - gaaaaaah.

it's kind of like deciding between GTA and Mafia or something. Vicinity I realize they're different games. I don't like this "edgy" style where they are trying to mimic 16 Bit era looks. Octopath Traveler; Beastly and Dragon's Scarf worth it?

Personally I was way more into Octopath. Traditional leveling with an ability grid where you unlcok new skills and stuff. After each break it will unlock more weaknesses and increase its shields by 3, for a total of 10 shields. Multiplayer I'll enjoy hundreds maybe thousands of hours - every game is unique - but singleplayer 20-40hours, maybe 50, I prefer; A tight FPS campaign I'll take 8-12hrs. Frostlands

I mean like orchestral music as much as the next guy but never to the point that would make me not buy my favorite game if it didn’t have any. Not saying dragone quest has a bad combat system but its extremely basic.

If youve played dragon quest before I suggest octopath traveller for somethibg different. Buff and debuff timers will not decrement for travelers who are removed from battle by. Its pretty sweet when you unlock something big like dual wielding. Dragon quest went really well until you figure out that after the "ending" you can continue playing to get the "true ending" and then the game pulls a dragon ball z moment and it feels like nothing you did up to that point was relevant which ruined the game for me.
