"Imagine" is a very special song, it's probably ultimately his most powerful. And the ending.. "you can check out anytime you like but you can never leave".. then the dualling guitars of the virtuoso musicians... how I hated when ignorant DJs started talking nonsense over the final guitar solo... it must be played to the very last note... perfection! Axl also had great vocals in this song. I'm a Guitarist and this is my favourite guitar solo to play, the emotion in it is clear and this remains one of the greatest songs of all time. The double bass of the second half feels like it shakes the very ground you stand on, you can feel it in your head.

It really is a deep song. I find it very distasteful that people talk about the "innovation" of songs like Bohemian Rhapsody when trying to justify it being at #1. That said, "In Bloom" and "Lithium" were better singles, and there are a few others on Nevermind that I liked better: "Breed", "Drain You", "Stay Away", and "Something in the Way".

It was written and composed by Michael Jackson and produced by him and Quincy Jones. I hope that this music is never forgotten. It's a trademark song not just in Metallica, but all music as a whole. A hypnotic riff borrowed from the Clash's "Straight To Hell" helped as did prominent placement in the soundtrack to the film Pineapple Express. For example - Newton Faulkner's "Dream Catch Me" or Disturbed's "Down With the Sickness" or Avenged Sevenfold's "Critical Acclaim".
