Don't forget to gain access to powerful weapons, armor and additional equipment and to have at least one follower (my choice is Fawkes).

The Broken Steel DLCs quests begin directly after the final quest in Fallout 3's Main Storyline.

If that doesn't work, start with all add-on mods disabled and enable one at a time until you find the one that breaks BS. After ativating the purifior I get the cinematic then all that happens is a view of the cieling.

You don't need fawkes to do it anyways... just go in there and do it yourself. What purpose does that serve. I had the same problem.

I can't find any bug issues that would glitch your ending choice. I also tried it with NO mods loaded.
