firewatch delilah good ending

Maybe…something else less obvious. [spoiler] Relationship between oneself and Delilah? For me, that made the story feel like it went full circle. It’s Ned! If you trust her, it's because shit got real and now she wants to escape again, escape her guilt for Brian's death, and her memories of this summer and you. This was what I was expecting and Firewatch delivered. The flirting was just a game for her, part of her "bad sense of humor" and then, you can take her distance in one of two ways. I was pretty rude to her and for several times she turned off her radio, leaving me alone in the unusual landscape of the Shoshone. I was totally immersed in Shoshone’s mysteries (that I found later were no mysteries at all…). And when you find out someone you know just died for years, wouldn't you just want to get the hell out of there? In this version of Henry, we had deep conversations (I must admit Delilah sometimes seemed like a desperate housewife – that scary intention to cuddle and have sex within a drunken state of mind).

Is there perhaps some kind of hidden ending, some kind of big secret; are we missing something big? How did it go from romance to suddenly not worrying too much if you get out? The game is kinda about dealing with just that. Press J to jump to the feed. The third mysterious story (apparently the main quest) was about a former Firewatch named Ned that brought his son, Brian, to the park. They made me believe that we were in some kind of social experiment (almost resembling that Jim Carrey movie – Man on the Moon). Remember the early part if you listens in to her calls with someone, she say something along the line of "he has no idea", etc. Gave me a nice chuckle in a pretty somber scene. Don’t you have anything better to do?

I must admit that those first 20 minutes of dialog are quite the masterpiece in terms of narrative. The research base strengthened this feeling within a creepy scenario. This was so much fun because the voice actors were so frikkin good. It makes sense she wouldn't want to see him, much less move to Colorado for him. My take on it was that Delilah was manipulating Henry for the entire summer.

What's everyone else's opinion?

Maybe not actual aliens or CIA black site, just something ... strange. The whole game had great little jokes embedded in it everywhere, the offbrand names on all the products cracked me up. I find it funny how so many people try to put Delilah as some kind of evil, and behind this whole murder.

Nice to see it pop up at the end. I expected something out-of-this world, something awesome, weird, whatever, maybe even with no logical explanation. Also Ned and D are in on it together and things went south in there relationship etc.

Something with the necessary gravitas to justify that sudden shift in storytelling focus. The ending is wilfully left ambiguous, and ‘Firewatch’ itself ends before we get to know anything in that direction.

Delilah explains it away immediately saying it was work related, which it likely was. Completely irrelevant to the H&D relationship that was unfolding right now. But just like her story about Javier, she doesn't like real commitment. ( Log Out /  As soon as there's any expectation she runs away.
Ever since it came to my attention, it was the game I … Behind the lack of game play and story, I find the entire point of this game is that, there is no conspiracy but just delusions.

This is the conclusion my girlfriend came to towards the end of the game. Them building a friendship (or possibly more) and helping each other overcome their problems/finding happiness etc. I was hoping the game would slowly but surely twist and bend the current reality into a really cool episode of X-Files or the Twilight Zone to make up for that. In my play through Delilah didn't really become distant per-se, but it was clear at the end she just wanted out and to do what Henry did - get away and put that part of her life behind her. But it feels like the plot - what actually happens in the game, outside of the interactions between and backstories of Delilah and Henry - was all build-up and no payoff. Firewatch is a mystery game set in the Wyoming wilderness, where your only emotional lifeline is the person on the other end of a handheld radio. But let’s keep going. The entire final act of the game felt pretty rushed, to be honest... there's no real payoff.

I was so sad about this poor truth that even in the end, when a huge fire takes the whole area and I need to reach Delilah’s outpost to be rescued, I begged for a different ending: I get in her outpost, I recognize some things from our conversations but nothing happens; then, I need to get to the helicopter that is coming to rescue me; I keep begging for something unusual or weird to happen (J. J. Abrams style) but sadly, the credits started rolling.

6 hours later (of non-stop gaming) I was speechless but not because of the awesome gaming but because this great adventure ended as lame and vulgar as can be. with the occasional Henry-out-of-his-element scene (like the skinny dipping teens) as comic relief.

That would have been much better if they did what you said and left you going holy shit, honestly i expected the same thing though, the conversation Delilah had was in my head most the game.
