If there is an arc, it’s in the glimpses we have of their personal lives, built up over the four movies – Brydon and his happy, young family, Coogan with his less-happy home life. You can't get to know anyplace if you stay in Five-Star hotels and eat at their restaurants or, as they did, skip genuine tavernas offering incomparably fresh horiatiki Greek salads and sea food for well under 50 euros for two people, including beer and wine. The pair have an easy rapport, evoking the kind of friendship where you greatly enjoy someone’s company but also find them a bit annoying.
