During the 10-day mission, Robert worked as Crew Interface Coordinator at the Columbus Control Centre in Germany. In 2009, Thirsk launched aboard Soyuz TMA-15 marking the start of Canada's first long-duration mission aboard the International Space Station. In 2001, Hadfield returned to space on mission STS-100 to deliver Canadarm2 to the International Space Station and was the first Canadian to perform a spacewalk.
