The name of the rover was selected in an essay contest won by Valerie Ambroise, a 12-year-old from U.S. state of Connecticut.

The Microrover Flight Experiment (MFEX) is a NASA OACT flight experimentfor autonomous mobile vehicle technologies, whose primary mission is todetermine microrover performance in the poorly understood planetary terrainof Mars.
