The Witcher 3 is, essentially, a story about parenthood.

The soundtrack is a great accompaniment to the incredible views. It’s all delivered with a fine eye for detail, which includes each and every character. Just a heads up: the expansions are worth it.

They are a distraction to level up so you can move on to the main plot, but yours are different.

A game that I would not want to end but still had to play to completion. This is a man who’s very good at his job, and it outlines his position in the world. It’s this subtle use of player decision that really makes the Witcher‘s open-ended nature stand out, and shows that you don’t need a two or three choice dialogue tree to have players change the events in a game. Even then, to fully absorb everything the game has to offer, you’ll need to go through multiple play-throughs, making this a game that really could last months, or even years. The Witcher 3 is one of those mammoth RPGs where a simple review cannot fully do it justice. It’s beautiful how music, moving scenes, and of course, incredible storytelling can develop the touching father-daughter relationship between Geralt and Ciri. Throughout your game Geralt would encounter many story altering decisions to make, but it’s not the number of monsters slayed or curses broken that defined the nature of the ending. ( Log Out /  It’s incredible to play with you. It seemed like a cut and dry case of killing the werewolf and bringing its head to the hunter for a reward.

This follows Geralt on his quest to find Ciri and ultimately bring down the Wild Hunt. In my opinion, the strongest point of this game is the expert storytelling. It had to be one that sucked me into its world and wouldn’t let go. You will have a special place in my heart forever. His responses were basically “fine”, “sure”, and “uuuugh, alright, alright”. I couldn’t believe how fleshed out it was, and it sets up the game for a perfect close. Don’t get me wrong, it would still be good if the story was just mediocre, but it’s the storytelling that puts this game far above other RPGs. The Witcher 3 has it, but it’s not the best example, and in the early stages of the game at least, Geralt may as well be swinging swords made out of paper and sticky tape. Hunting down monsters by searching for clues felt like detective work. With you, THE WITCHER 3, I never know how a contract might end up, even if it starts out as a simple missing person case. I am forever grateful to you for being that perfect first PS4 game for me.

At first, the game is easily one of the most daunting I’ve played in a long time. Well, you can complete the main story without doing much of anything else fairly quickly.

Sure, you can play for the many different sex scenes, including a humorous and uncanny one in Blood and Wine, but it’s just as satisfying, if not more, to simply build the intimate relationship between Ciri and Geralt. Mechanically, it doesn’t quite keep up with its ambitions, and the combat sluggishness, as well as an occasionally choppy frame rate and poorly designed menu do hamper it, but if you look past these problems, you’ll find one of the best RPGs of this generation, and a definite must-have title, regardless of your chosen platform. It can often still be clunky or not as responsive as you would expect but the more you play the more you understand the timing of everything.
